This was the Taylor that greeted the Picketts in 1888 upon their arrival from Austin. During the next several years, Bill Pickett worked for a number of ranches in the Taylor, Georgetown, and Round Rock areas of Williamson County and the Rockdale area of Milam County. He first worked on the J. M. Kuykendall ranch, then with Emsey Baker on the Governor E. Sparks ranch fourteen miles south- Page 32 east of Taylor on Brushey Creekr. He also worked at the Stells O.
