Subassemblies are fed to assembly half a day ahead of need. As assembly is performed, parts are consumed from the assembly sequencer nearby. Parts are also consumed from the sequencer as subassemblies are produced. A few large parts do not enterthe sequencer and are routed directly to the main assembly line. The assembly sequencer is fed in two ways. Purchased finished parts are delivered just-in-time from suppliers to the docks on the right. They travel by conveyor to the sequencer. Worked parts are delivered from the three minifactories at the center of the layout.
