And we faced plenty of adversity against the Longhorns. Texas was a good team, and we had a tough time stopping the Longhorns’ wishbone offense. We hung in there as long as we could but just couldn’t get anything going, and our fans started to boo. They put their hearts into it, too. I got our signals from the sidelines and, as I ran into the huddle, the boos poured down from the stands. I looked each of my teammates in the eye, and I had to make them have confidence in me and believe that I could march us down the field.

One of my best games was against College of the Canyons, when I threw for four touchdowns, two to Leon. Once the playoffs started, though, we got smoked because we were one-dimensional, all offense and not much defense. Just weeks into the season, I was convinced more than ever that I should be in a major college, not in a community college.
