It is the responsibility of the project manager to assure the orderly and successful conclusion of the project. This is achieved through detailed planning at the start of the project, and effectiveproject management throughout the project. Specifically, this requires that: Acceptance test plans must be prepared, documented and approved by the customer well before the end of the project. Staffing levels and assignments must be scheduled, taking into account the gradual reduction in the development team size toward the end of the project.
The assignment percentage may also be quoted in terms of maximum or minimum, meaning that, for example, a quality assurance engineer will devote no more than 20 hours a week to the project, and no fewer than 10 hours a week to the project. The billing rate may be a fixed rate for all persons assigned to the project, or individual rates may be set for each person or class of people. For example, for each hour worked on the project, the developer will bill $80, irrespective of who worked that hour.
If the availability of communications lines is delayed this will be slightly more damaging to the project than the incompatible protocol problem. The tracking of this problem has been assigned to William Doo. It is his responsibility to assure that lines are ordered from two other phone companies (for the integration phase only). If the preferred phone company is ready on time, then the orders from the other two companies will be canceled and possibly a cancelation fee paid.
