There is no doubt that some of the clusters are 'spurious' in the sense that they do not represent the direction of specific sources but the concentration along the Galactic Plane makes us believe that some, at least, are genuine. An immediate question to ask is whether the actual 'sources' are in the directions of these cluster or not. The point is that the intensity enhancement in the general plane region will throw up an excess of statistical groupings. No doubt this is true but it should be pointed out that the fE function used is considerably wider than the narrow Galactic Plane (note the expo - b2 factor) and the strong concentration does suggest that at least some of the clusters represent sources.
