Viele andere Vorgänge in der Natur sind einem Messprozess ähnlich. Es sind solche messprozessartigen Vorgänge, die nach der Schrödinger-Gleichung auf Schrödingers Katze oder auf „Viele Welten“ führen würden. Betrachten wir das Beispiel eines Photons oder Neutrons, das in Form einer räumlichen Welle auf die erwähnte Anordnung von zu 100% effektiven Detektoren trifft, von denen immer genau einer anspricht, wenn wir eines dieser Quantenobjekte einlaufen lassen. Wie schon gesagt soll hier angenommen werden, dass dieses dabei nur registriert, also nicht absorbiert und selber nur vernachlässigbar beeinflusst wird (was in vielen Fällen realisiert werden kann).
Die Kopenhagener Deutung der Quantentheorie nimmt – wie schon erwähnt – statt dessen entgegen aller physikalischen Tradition an, dass mikroskopische Objekte gar keine „realen“ Eigenschaften (wie hier eine sie zum Durchgelassenwerden prädestinierende) unabhängig von deren Messung „besitzen“. “ Dann ist die oben benutzte Argumentation nämlich nicht mehr anwendbar. Eine dritte Möglichkeit der Erklärung (statt der Aufgabe von Lokalität oder Realität) bestünde in der Annahme, dass die Orientierung der Filter gar nicht unabhängig voneinander (etwa durch freie Willensentscheidung) gewählt werden kann, sondern beispielsweise durch eine geheimnisvolle gemeinsame Ursache in der Vergangenheit oder auf sonstige „konspirative Weise“ immer mit den Zuständen der Objektpaare korreliert sind.
