While the majority of KNII indicators will be derived from federal data sources, current planning is to also include indicators from other sources.
While the structure and content of the KNII website will evolve over time, the guiding principles underlying the selection of indicators would remain the same. Our working assumption is that the KNII system would be used by: • Citizens interested in assessing the relative health of their communities and nation • Elected officials and candidates for office • Civic leaders and non-profit organisations • Private and public service providers • Business leaders • Policy makers and their staffs • Interest and advocacy groups • Scholars and researchers • Educators and students • Journalists and reporters Clearly, the KNII cannot equally serve the diverse needs of each of these constituencies.
