Das entscheidene Moment seiner Argumenation ist, dass er Struktur nicht als Gegen-, sondern als Komplementärbegriff zum Handeln konzeptualisiert: Struktur ist zugleich Ergebnis und Medium des Handelns, also etwas, das Handeln sowohl begrenzt als auch ermöglicht.
Wiederholte, aufeinander bezogene Verantwortungszuschreibungen bilden soziale Verantwortungssysteme (beispielsweise den CSR-Diskurs oder den Global Compact).
