Brief History of Environmental Research The studies of biotic effects caused by emissions of Achema are generally forestryoriented, with detailed descriptions of the growth and vitality of Scots pine (Augustaitis 1989; Armolaitis 1998; Juknys et al. 2003) and fragmentary data on soil microbiota (Lebedeva & Lugauskas 1985), insect pests (Mastauskis 1987), and birds (Knistautas 1982, 1983).
